Does It Matter That Cheryl & Dermot Aren't Known in the US?

I am sure some of you out there are sick of the US X Factor rumors.  I mean everyone has been mentioned as a possible judge or host. Some of them are a bit questionable. I mean to think people were saying Mariah Carey should be a judge of talent.

Let me just get right to my main point here. The topic of Cheryl Cole and Dermot O'Leary as part of the show.

Some people have been saying that 3 Brits on the show would be overwhelming. That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. Look at Dancing with The Stars. The two star judges fly back and forth between the us and the uk to do their dance shows. Yet nobody complains about that.

Alright there are so many other issues that people bring up on why these two would be a horrible fit for the show. The main point people bring up is that neither of them are known in the States. I didn't really know that was actually a requirement to be on a show. We can already throw the not known argument out the window if we compare this to American Idol when it was starting.

• Ryan Seacrest - Yeah I can't stand him but let's face it did you know who he was prior to the start of American Idol. Do you even know where he came from? For some reason people liked him and he exploded overnight and became a huge star in the states.  The same thing can happen to Dermot. Dermot is actually much more likable and has proven he can do the job. I can't say the same for the rumored judges. Sure Mario Lopez is likable but he can't handle the heavyweight X Factor is gonna be.
• Randy Jackson - Sure some of us knew he had a music production background but the casual fan of the show had no clue.
• Simon Cowell - There was a time he wasn't a household name here in the States. 

• Paula Abdul - She wasn't relevant for years when she was asked to be a judge. So it didn't seem to make any sense

I know that may not be the best example since XFACTOR US now has to majorly compete with Idol. I will say at the start of Idol there was nothing else out there to go against.
Everyone knows who Simon Cowell is so does it really matter who he picks to join his judging or hosting panel? US  X FACTOR will be huge because everyone is going to be curious as to what it's all about.

Does it really matter nobody in the states knows who Cheryl and Dermot are?  I wouldn't be so quick to judge. Say what you will but they have both proven to be a success with the show over in the UK.
Does anyone Even listen to Danni or Louis Walsh?

So I say bring Cheryl Cole and Dermot O'Leary on the panel. If you want to get Cheryl known release a single here and it will be sure to be a summer hit. The only other issue people have with Cheryl is her accent.
I never had a single problem understanding the words she was saying. If you live in an area where English is becoming the 2nd language you understand accents easily.

Let's close this blog with me asking Cheryl Cole her us plans for 2010.  The answer was different here but you know 2010 is over and it's 2011. Things could have changed for sure.

The New Oregon Trail is beyond insulting

I decided to install the New Oregon Trail for Facebook.  It is currently in Beta so some bugs of course are expected.
However for those of you a little bit behind here's the trailer.

Of course it's cheesey and corny as all hell. I think it is more of a remake of the second game. I remember the ammounts of joy this game brought back when I was in grade school.  We had about  7 computers that we all had to wait til the end of the week to get our turn to play.
Anyway the game was about the coolest thing in the world. The only game to ever top it was The Incredible Machine.
Let's get to my point here. I was thrilled when I saw a remake being launched on facebook.

However, let me suggest to my friends that you avoid this disaster. Unless of course you want all your memories of an awesome game being destoryed.

There are quite a few issues with this new version. Like I said it is techinally in the beta version so maybe some of them will get worked out.

• It's super lagged! I thought at first it was my internet connection but other games were working fine.So if you can get past the lag you may have fun.
• As can be expected you need facebook notes, meaning you have to use real cash to get anything good in the game. For example you get a deadly disease and you are only given 15 notes. To cure it you have to use one. That wouldn't be bad except by the time you are done with the first part of your mission, each member of your team has been struck with some deadly disease, or snake bite or something.
• You get diseased and sick way too much. Like I mentioned before it's about spending real life money. So you end up getting sick what seems like much more than in the original. Makes it rather frustrating.
• The cheesy farmville graphics!  Enough said...

I can go on for days but i will end there! It isn't totally bad but I can see as it grows it becoming just another money taker.  Nothing really exciting here. I think once the lag issues are under control and the use of more coins or an option for friends to cure your diseases. Well this will still suck but it may be worth another play through in the future.
